Mothers of Boys

Some dilemnas mothers of boys face...

I ran into the real first dilemna of raising boys today. My 6 soon-to-be 7-year-old was going to have a birthday party at the local community pool facility. The price was good, it sounded easy until I realized...

I have a seven-year-old boy who will be having 10 six and seven-year-old boys. I can't go in the locker room and help them change!

I racked my brain for a solution. I only have two sisters who are not attached to male figures currently. His dad is out of state. Grandpa wasn't thrilled of the idea, to say the least, plus I wouldn't stick him with 10 of the hooligans.

What do you do? When my two had swimming, we could use the family locker room. I'm not real comfortable with supervising others...so now what?

I looked into the local rec place...for only 15.95 a child I can have a party package that includes not much. There's roller skating - which got a nose wrinkle. Bowling - which got an eye roll. Chuck E Cheese - we did last year. Home party - I vetoed that.

What else do mothers of sons do? What do single fathers of girls do? Do you shell out big bucks and have a huge party somewhere? Is it a small party at home?

Give me some ideas - I have until April 1st.
